Northern Lights Meeting Minutes May 8 2005 Meeting called to order at 11:15 am. Happy mother's day! President's report: Due to Mother's day issues, Dina couldn't make it. Vice President's report: I just got back back from Costume Con (CC23) last weekend. I successfully workmanship judged among a panel of 3, in the SF & Fantasy masquerade. I won an honorable mention for color challenge doll competition for gray and burgundy. The doll would have been be here except for the Cocoa incident. Secretary's report: Rich is doing the minutes today, and we appreciate it. Treasurer's report: TR went into ICG on time. Even though we spent money we still have a good balance in the savings account. The order for the pens has come in. The order for the tape measures has been placed. More on this under Old Business. Webmistress report: Not present, therefore no report. Newsletter: No report. Please write something and submit it to Maura at mburns@law.harvard.edu . Old Business: Promotional items: Total on the pens with shipping is $223.06. Atlas did not charge a setup fee for text printing. Tape measures had a one-time setup fee of $45.00. They charged $29.00 for shipping. Susan will bring the pens in when the tape measures arrive, so that members can purchase a set for $2.00. Total cost of tape measures is $311.50. This was $34.56 over the inital amount approved for both the pens and tape measures. The extra amount was approved via email response prior to placing the order. The 22 proxies and 2 members went to the ICG meeting at CC23. Please see Janice's report on the list for further details. There are costumes being planned for Arisia 2006 and LaCon IV (Worldcon 2006). Please see Jerome or Ann for information. New Business: Event for Sunday July 24, 2005 at 12:00 in Milford. A sewing class/workshop will be held, connected with our LaCon costume meeting. There are machines but it would be appreciated if those with a portable machine can bring it. Also please bring fabric scissors if you have any. If you have something you want to make, bring a pattern, fabric, and thread. Announcements: The Westford Museum has an exhibit on antique clothing on Sunday May 15, 2005 2:00-4:00 PM. Antique clothing expert Carrie Midura will speak on articles of clothing from the museum's exhibit: 200 years of underwear. Discussion includes construction, techniques, fabrics, and age of garment. Free of charge. American Textils museum in Lowell will have a set of 2 exhibits called Batik from Courts and Palaces: The Rudolf Smend Collection and Battik Fashion/American Style.
